Actress Elçin Sangu, who testified as part of the Ahbap Association investigation, stated that she donated 100,000 TL to the association after the February 6 earthquakes and participated in volunteer relief efforts. Sangu said, 'I am sorry that Haluk Levent took advantage of our good intentions.'
The statements given by famous actress Elcin Sangu to the prosecutor's office have emerged within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the AHBAP Association. Sangu, who donated 100,000 TL to the association after the February 6 earthquakes and personally took part in relief efforts as a volunteer, expressed her disappointment in her statement, saying, "I am very sad that Haluk Levent took advantage of our good intentions."
"AFTER THE METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY, I WENT TO AHBAP"
Elcin Sangu, stating that she took immediate action to help the region after the February 6 earthquakes, described in detail how she became involved in the process in her statement to the prosecutor's office. Stating that she first went to the municipality, the famous actress used the following statements:
"At that time, many of my friends from the earthquake zone had been affected by the earthquake. With the thought of how I could help, I first went to the Metropolitan Municipality. When I saw that relief activities were being carried out comprehensively there and many people were involved, I thought about where else I could help. At that time, the AHBAP Association and Babala TV were heavily involved in relief activities. Since they were located at an address close to the Metropolitan Municipality, I went to the headquarters of the AHBAP Association."
"WE MET FACE TO FACE FOR THE FIRST TIME"
Stating that she met Haluk Levent face to face for the first time at the AHBAP headquarters, Sangu said that she also activated her own connections for the relief organization at that time, and said:
"There were units divided into many tables regarding relief activities. I called the brands I collaborated with at that time and asked if they could provide needed supplies as products. At this point, I am sorry that Haluk Levent used our good intentions because our aid was used in this way."
"PEOPLE WILL LOSE THE FEELING OF HELPING"
Emphasizing that she and many of her friends worked entirely on a voluntary basis at that time and did not act on the suggestion of Haluk Levent or anyone else, Sangu noted that the detail that built trust in her during the process was "independent audit firms."
Arguing that new legal regulations could prevent abuses, Sangu concluded her statement with the following striking words:
"I think that if new regulations regarding relief activities are made, it will prevent others from abusing people's good intentions in the future. The last thing I want to say is; I am very sad that as a result of all these events, people will now lose the feeling of helping others."
