Former Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen was detained at Sabiha Gökçen Airport while attempting to leave the country as part of an ongoing investigation against him.

Former Mayor Şükrü Sözen was detained based on the evidence obtained in the bribery and corruption investigation.

As part of the 'bribery' and 'corruption' investigation conducted by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Manavgat Municipality, a detention order was issued for former Mayor Şükrü Sözen based on the evidence obtained.

DETAINED AT THE AIRPORT

Şükrü Sözen was detained by police teams while attempting to leave the country at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport this evening. It was reported that Şükrü Sözen's brother, Fatih Sözen, was also detained as part of the investigation.

As part of the investigation, Zafer Keçer, who served as the head of the municipality's zoning department during Şükrü Sözen's term as mayor, along with some business people, had been arrested.
