DETAILS OF THE ATTACK
In the Çetin Emeç neighborhood of Balçova, E.B. went to the Salih İşgören Police Station in the morning and opened fire on the guard booth with a shotgun. Police officer Hasan Akın was martyred at this location, and upon hearing the gunfire, police officers on duty at the station intervened against the assailant. A clash broke out between the police and the assailant. In the clash, 1st Class Police Chief Inspector Muhsin Aydemir was also martyred. Health teams were dispatched to the station upon notification. Injured police officers Ömer Amilağ and Murat Dağlı, along with a civilian who was injured in the hand, were taken to the hospital by ambulance. It was reported that Amilağ's health condition remains serious.
INJURED CAPTURED
After the incident, police teams conducted an operation in the area to capture the fleeing assailant. In the operation, the assailant E.B. was captured injured. E.B. was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
8 PROSECUTORS ASSIGNED
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that an investigation has been initiated regarding the attack and that 2 deputy chief public prosecutors and 6 public prosecutors have been assigned.

Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban, who came to the police station after the attack, also made statements. Elban used the following expressions:
"A 16-year-old high school junior is attacked by a person who has no previous criminal record. The first shot is fired at the guard booth, and unfortunately, one of our police officers is injured in the gunfire and becomes a martyr there. Later, during the efforts to capture the assailant, our police chief inspector, who resides in the lodge there, is also martyred in the ensuing clash. One of our police officer friends and one chief inspector friend were martyred in the clash. 2 of our police officers are under treatment in the hospital. This is a busy street, and one of our citizens was slightly injured in the clash. The assailant was captured injured. His treatment continues at Alsancak State Hospital. We are saddened, may our police organization and our nation be consoled. I wish a speedy recovery to our injured brothers.
