In the incident in Adana where 3 people were killed, Savaş Demir, the father of Ali Can Demir who lost his life, recounted that his son and his friend went to the viewing hill and when they noticed an argument in a nearby vehicle, they went to Semra Yılmaz's side to help, saying, "Our two children died instantly from a single bullet. They had nothing to do with the incident. Let them give him the heaviest punishment."
The incident occurred on July 25 at around 23:30 in the Rüzgarlı Tepe area of Kabasakal Neighborhood, central Çukuropa district. Osman A. (28) went to the viewing hill with Semra Yılmaz, whom he had picked up from her home in his car. After chatting for a while, an argument broke out between the two.
HE KILLED THE WOMAN WITH HIM AND TWO PEOPLE NEARBY
As the argument quickly escalated, Osman A. shot Semra Yılmaz with a pistol. The suspect then shot and killed Ali Can Demir (25) and Sinan İlbey (28), who were in a car at the scene and unrelated to the incident, thinking they had witnessed it, and fled. Upon notification, health teams dispatched to the scene determined that 3 people, including 1 woman, had lost their lives.
Osman A., captured in Yüreğir district with the pistol used in the incident by the Homicide Bureau teams, said "I am regretful" to press members while being taken for a health check after his procedures at the police station. The suspect, later referred to the courthouse, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
"THEY WANTED TO HELP" Ali Can's father, Savaş Demir (50), came to Turkey from Ukraine where he worked upon receiving the tragic news. The grieving father, Savaş Demir, recounted the incident to journalists. Describing that his son and his friend were killed with a single bullet, Demir said, "I have not been myself since I received the news. My son and Sinan went to Rüzgarlı Tepe to hang out together. The others were arguing among themselves. This is what witnesses told us. While they were arguing, our kids went and asked if there was any help they could provide. They said no. Half an hour later, the woman came out and started shouting. Then that man named Osman carried out this heinous act. Our two children died instantly from a single bullet."
"ONLY WATER AND SUNFLOWER SEEDS WERE FOUND IN THEIR VEHICLE" Father Demir, also stating that their children had no connection to the incident, said, "My son and his friend had nothing to do with the incident. They went there to hang out. Only water and sunflower seeds were found in their vehicle. Our grief is immense. I have attended many funerals before, but nothing compares to the pain of losing a child. It is indescribable; this pain has no name. My son was someone who was at work in the morning and at home in the evening. I know the friends he has hung out with for years. He has never even raised his voice to me to this day. He walked around the neighborhood with his head down, quiet. He was respectful to his elders. He has never upset me until now."
"THEY COULDN'T EVEN MOVE FROM THE VEHICLE" Emphasizing that Osman A. should receive the heaviest punishment, Savaş Demir said, "They couldn't even move from the vehicle, and he killed both of our children. He brought fire to 3 homes and hurt many people. We don't know the woman either, but she was also murdered. We trust our justice system. Let them give him the heaviest punishment. Taking 3 people from life should not be this easy."
