The 190-meter bulk carrier named Pilatus Marine, which suffered an engine breakdown in the Dardanelles Strait while en route from Syria to Russia, ran aground at Nara Turn. After the accident, ship traffic in the Dardanelles Strait was temporarily suspended in both directions for security reasons.

ENGINE FAILURE AT THE NARA TURN
According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the incident occurred on the 190-meter-long San Marino-flagged bulk carrier named "Pilatus Marine," which was en route from Syria to Russia. The giant ship ran aground after experiencing an engine failure at the Nara Turn, one of the most critical points of the Dardanelles Strait.
RESCUE TEAMS AND DIVERS AT THE SCENE
Upon notification, the General Directorate of Coastal Safety swiftly took action. The statement from the Ministry included the following remarks:
"Following the incident, the Rescue-19 and Rescue-16 tugboats affiliated with our General Directorate of Coastal Safety quickly reached the vessel. Our divers have begun diving to determine the ship's condition, and subsequently, damage assessment and rescue operations will be carried out. Due to this incident, ship traffic in the Dardanelles Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions."
Rescue and damage assessment efforts by the teams in the region are ongoing.
