National taekwondo athlete Meryem Betül Çavdar faced Mexican Jessica Garcia Quijano, the number one seed in the women's K44 52kg category at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Number two seed Meryem Betül defeated her opponent 6-3 and won the bronze medal. Thus, Turkey also won its first medal at the games.

At the para taekwondo competitions held at the Grand Palais, Meryem Betül, the number 2 seed, faced off against the number 1 seed, Mexican Jessica Garcia Quijano.
