The terrorist organization PKK announced that it has disbanded itself by laying down its arms. With this critical development, Turkey enters an important turning point in its fight against terrorism, and the most frequently asked questions about the process have started to find answers.

The decision of the terrorist organization PKK to dissolve and end its actions has marked the beginning of a new phase in the process of a terrorism-free Turkey. The goal is to complete the disarmament phase within 3-4 months.

PROGRESSING AS PLANNED

Starting with the handshake between MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and DEM Party members at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on October 1, the initiative named "Terrorism-Free Turkey" is progressing under the control of the state and as planned.

WAS A BARGAIN MADE, WAS A CONCESSION GIVEN?

The most important question in the process personally managed by National Intelligence Organization President İbrahim Kalın was, "Was a bargain made with the terrorist organization, what concession was given?" Hürriyet newspaper columnist Nedim Şener shared an interview he had with an unnamed official regarding the issue, asking the questions that the public is curious about and sharing the answers with his readers.

HERE ARE THE 5 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS...

1- Question: Was a bargain made in exchange for the PKK's dissolution and disarmament, were promises and concessions given?

Answer: Absolutely not, this initiative was started by the Turkish state. The effectiveness of Turkey's fight against terrorism has rendered the terrorist organization unable to move abroad. International conditions have also begun to develop against them. Therefore, they had no other option but to make the dissolution decision, and not a single bargaining issue was brought to the agenda. They are already making statements, saying that there was no bargain. The state is proceeding within the framework it has drawn.

2- Question: Does the decision for the PKK to dissolve also bind the other structures of the organization?

Answer: Yes, because the PKK is essentially the backbone of the terrorist organization's umbrella structure. When the PKK dissolves, the others are also considered dissolved. In other words, according to Turkey, this decision requires the liquidation of not only the PKK terrorist organization's structures in Iraq but also in Iran, Syria, and even Europe. No other option is accepted. It will also be closely monitored whether the organizational structures will continue their activities by changing names.

3- Question: How will it be checked whether the PKK fully complies with the disarmament and dissolution decision?

Answer: That is our job. The Turkish intelligence has great experience. We have experienced technical teams working on this issue. At the beginning of the process, there is National Intelligence Organization President İbrahim Kalın. The process will be monitored step by step and reported to President Erdoğan over time.

4- Question: Will amnesty be granted to PKK terrorists?

Answer: There is no idea, preparation, or work for something like amnesty. Those who have committed crimes against Turkey will definitely serve their sentences. Of course, taking steps that will serve social peace is the domain of politics. However, there will be no steps that will harm our national unity, as some claim.

5- Question: What will happen if there is a situation contrary to the calls made and the decisions taken, that is, if the PKK launches attacks again under its own name or another name?

Answer: The Republic of Turkey has had not only "A" plans but also "B" and "C" plans ready from the beginning regarding this issue, and even more. In other words, we have plans in place from the outset for the dissolution decision and the disarmament, in case the weapons are not handed over despite the dissolution decision or if they continue terrorist activities under different names. Additionally, since the threat of terrorism in the region has not been eliminated, the struggle of the Turkish Armed Forces and our intelligence organization continues uninterrupted. The most important thing is to implement the decisions made by the terrorist organization. This process will be closely monitored.
