"Regulation on Amendments to the Family Medicine Contract and Payment Management" has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.

The 'Regulation on Amendments to the Family Medicine Contract and Payment Management' published in the Official Gazette has come into effect. With this regulation, the six-month period essential for patient follow-up has been extended to one year, except for groups that require more frequent monitoring. While the population structure served by the family physician has been included as an evaluation criterion, significant steps have also been taken to promote rational drug use and increase chronic disease screenings.

6-MONTH PERIOD IN SERVICE MONITORING EXTENDED TO 1 YEAR

With the new regulation, the period for monitoring applications to family medicine units has been extended. The criterion for not applying to family medicine in the last six months has been increased to one year. For groups that require more frequent monitoring, such as women aged 15-49 or individuals with chronic diseases, the existing service periods will be maintained to ensure the system's sensitivity.

POPULATION STRUCTURE SERVED BY THE FAMILY PHYSICIAN HAS BEEN EVALUATED

With the new regulation, the structure of the population served by family medicine units has also been taken into account. Parameters have been updated considering the different workloads in regions where individuals who require more frequent monitoring and comprehensive services, such as pregnant women, infants, children, and the elderly, are located or where these ratios are low. With the new regulation, the workload of family health units with a high population but a low number of individuals in specialized groups has also been considered, raising the score limit corresponding to the population count to 3,000.

CRITERIA FOR RATIONAL DRUG USE HAVE BEEN EXPANDED

The number of criteria applicable in evaluations related to rational drug use has been increased. From now on, not only the provincial average but also the national average, past performance, and international comparisons will be included in the evaluation. Thus, the number of criteria in this area has been increased from one to four. This change aims to promote rational drug use and protect public health.

NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN EXAMINATION CALCULATIONS

The methods for calculating the daily number of examinations and target examination numbers have been regulated. These calculations will now be made directly based on the number of individuals. Additionally, steps have been taken to encourage family health workers in processes related to chronic disease screenings and examination rates.
