Rabia Çataklı, a 34-year-old detained defendant who went into a frenzy in Zonguldak and killed her mother and grandmother by dismembering them with an axe and throwing their limbs out of the window, was sentenced to life imprisonment twice for the crime of "deliberate murder with monstrous feelings or by inflicting torture against an ascendant and a woman."
In the incident that occurred in 2023, 34-year-old Rabia Çataklı, who allegedly went into a rage and chopped her mother Şeyda Çataklı and grandmother Medine Küçükkaya with an axe, threw her belongings and limbs out onto the street. After the incident, while the mother and grandmother were buried, Rabia Çataklı was arrested on charges of "deliberate murder with monstrous feelings or torture against an ascendant and a woman" and was requested to be punished separately.
"FULL CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY" WAS FOUND In the hearing held at the Zonguldak 2nd Heavy Criminal Court, the detained defendant Rabia Çataklı and the lawyers of the parties attended. The report from the Forensic Medicine Institution stating that the defendant Rabia Çataklı has full criminal responsibility was read in court. The report stated, "No mental illness or intellectual disability was detected that would eliminate or reduce the defendant's criminal responsibility, and during the examination of the judicial file, there was no medical evidence or documentation indicating that the defendant was in a mental disorder that would eliminate or reduce her ability to comprehend the legal meaning and consequences of the act at the time of committing the aforementioned crime, and according to this situation, Rabia Çataklı has full criminal responsibility for the crime she is accused of on August 13, 2023."

The Public Prosecutor requested that the defendant be punished with two aggravated life sentences for the charge of "deliberate murder with monstrous feelings or torture against an ascendant and a woman" based on the report.
The defendant stated that she did not accept the indictment, saying, "I did not do this act willingly and knowingly. This incident occurred during a seizure due to my illness." The defendant's lawyer stated that they did not accept the charges and requested the defendant's acquittal or release.
DOUBLE LIFE IMPRISONMENT WAS GIVEN The court panel decided to punish the defendant with two life sentences for the crime of deliberate murder against her mother Şeyda Çataklı and grandmother Medine Küçükkaya.
