Eric Dane, the 53-year-old star of Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, passed away nearly a year after being diagnosed with ALS.
Eric Dane, a 53-year-old actor known for his role as "McSteamy" in the famous American series "Grey's Anatomy," has passed away.
Dane's manager, Melissa Bank, announced in a written statement that Dane had lost his life. Bank noted that Dane spent his last days with his family, wife, and daughters.
HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ALS LAST YEAR
Dane had announced in April 2025 that he was diagnosed with ALS, a neurological disease. Dane, who passed away at the age of 53, had gained a large fan base for his role as "McSteamy" in ABC's long-running series "Grey's Anatomy."
HE COMPLETED HIS LAST SERIES IN A WHEELCHAIR
The actor, who made a mark in the television world with the character Dr. Mark Sloan in Grey's Anatomy, had stayed on the show for six seasons after being loved for a single episode.
Another significant role of his was the character Cal Jacobs in HBO's acclaimed series Euphoria. The actor had to complete the filming of the third season in a wheelchair due to health issues.
However, Dane had stated, "I feel lucky to be able to continue working after the diagnosis."
HE HAD A DIFFICULT CHILDHOOD
Born in San Francisco in 1972, Dane lost his father to suicide when he was 7 years old. Dane dropped out of school a month before his high school graduation and moved to Los Angeles, where he received acting training.
He made his first screen appearance in 1991 with the series "Saved by the Bell."
