Franklin Zeigler, a New Jersey resident, was arrested for decapitating a seagull that was attempting to steal his daughter's potato and getting into a fight with the police. The incident took place at a water park, where Zeigler attacked the bird. Zeigler, who became angry and resisted the arriving police officers, faced charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and animal cruelty.
A 29-year-old Franklin Zeigler, who lives in New Jersey, was arrested after a seagull tried to steal his daughter's french fries and he fought with the police officers who tried to arrest him.
The incident took place on July 6 at Surfside Pier at Morey's Piers & Beachfront Water Parks on the Wildwood shoreline. A seagull attempted to steal Zeigler's daughter's french fries.
According to New Jersey 101.5, Zeigler became angry and attacked the unfortunate bird, decapitating its head from its body.
According to Newark Star-Ledger, the bird killer then asked the beach workers for a garbage bag to dispose of the seagull's remains. He was still holding the bird's parts at that time.
When North Wildwood police officers arrived at the scene, Zeigler quickly "became enraged and did not cooperate with the officers regarding an unrelated investigation."
Authorities arrested Zeigler, charging him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
According to reports, Zeigler was also charged with third-degree animal cruelty on July 18.
According to Ledger, Zeigler was given a court date on August 9 and was released.
