With the regulation published in the Official Gazette, the contribution rate for debt repayment in retirement has been increased from 32% to 45%. Under the implementation, which will come into effect on January 1, the contribution amounts will rise, making debt repayments for retirement more costly compared to the current situation.
The borrowing rate, which is critical for retirement, is changing as of January 1st. According to the law published in the Official Gazette regarding amendments to tax laws and certain laws and decrees, the retirement borrowing premium rate has been increased from 32% to 45%, excluding childbirth.
IT WILL BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE STARTING FROM THE NEW YEAR
With the borrowing rate rising to 45%, the military borrowing, internship borrowing, and other service borrowings for retirement will become more expensive starting from the new year. This means that higher premiums will need to be paid compared to today. Those who pay their premiums by the end of the year will not be affected by this increase.
MILITARY BORROWING WILL BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE
Childbirth borrowing is not included in the law, and the premium rate will continue at 32%. However, there will be a change in military borrowing. Since the rate will be increased from 32% to 45%, military borrowing will become more expensive. Periods of unpaid leave, legal internship, doctoral and specialty training periods, strike-lockout periods, and honorary assistant periods will now also be borrowed at the 45% rate.
THE BORROWING AMOUNT WILL CHANGE
The lowest borrowing amount is determined based on 32% of the gross minimum wage. The lowest daily borrowing amount is 277 TL, and the monthly amount is 8,321 TL. The highest borrowing can go up to 7.5 times this amount. With the increase in the minimum wage in the new year, these amounts will also change. Paying a higher borrowing premium will increase the earnings subject to the premium, thus raising the retirement pension as well.
THE BORROWING AMOUNTS ARE LISTED AS FOLLOWS
According to today's amounts, the borrowing amounts valid until January 1st are as follows:
Lowest borrowing amount for 12 months of military service: 99,720 TL
Lowest borrowing amount for 18 months of military service: 149,580 TL
Childbirth borrowing for one child (720 days): 199,440 TL
