Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in the capital of Iran, Tehran, was laid to rest in a funeral ceremony attended by a Turkish delegation led by the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, in Qatar.

NUMEROUS OFFICIALS FROM THE ISLAMIC WORLD ATTENDED
At the funeral ceremony attended by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Kurtulmuş, Deputy President Yılmaz, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fidan, Undersecretary of the National Intelligence Organization Kalın, representatives from political parties and members of parliament were also present. Hamas Political Bureau Deputy Chairman Khalid Mashal and the President of the World Union of Muslim Scholars, Ali Muhyiddin al-Qaradaghi, delivered speeches at the funeral ceremony, which was attended by numerous officials from Arab and Muslim countries as well as the Islamic world. After the funeral prayer, Haniyeh's body was taken from the mosque to the cemetery accompanied by takbirs.
BURIED IN LUSEYL CITY
Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Kurtulmuş, Deputy President Yılmaz, and members of parliament later attended the funeral of Ismail Haniyeh and his bodyguard Vesim Abu Shaban. After the burial ceremony held at the cemetery in Luseyl city, located 15 kilometers north of Doha, Kurtulmuş and Yılmaz expressed their condolences to Haniyeh's sons and grandchildren. Kurtulmuş also met with Hamas Political Bureau Deputy Chairman Mashal and conveyed his condolences.
HANIYEH ASSASSINATION
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced in a statement on the morning of July 31 that an attack had been carried out on Haniyeh's residence in Tehran. Iran and the Hamas Movement held Israel responsible for the cowardly assassination.
Born in a refugee camp in Gaza in 1962, Ismail Haniyeh was an important figure since the establishment of Hamas. Haniyeh, who has been imprisoned by Israel several times, survived an assassination attempt by Israel in 2003. After Hamas won the elections three years later, Haniyeh briefly served as the Prime Minister of Palestine and was elected as the head of Hamas' political bureau in 2017.
Haniyeh led the Hamas delegation in negotiations mediated by Qatar, the United States, and Egypt.
