A male passenger, reported to have psychological issues, caused a disturbance by pulling the hair of a female passenger sitting in front of him. It was stated that cabin crew and other passengers intervened in the incident, and the aggressive passenger was subdued.
An incident that occurred at Oakland Airport in the USA last Thursday caused great panic on a passenger plane. On the Alaska Airlines flight to Portland, a passenger with reported psychological issues caused a disturbance by pulling the hair of a female passenger sitting in front of him.
The gray-haired, bespectacled male passenger suddenly lost control on the plane preparing for takeoff, grabbing the hair of the woman in the seat in front of him and not letting go. A male flight attendant who intervened had to strike the aggressive passenger several times in the throat area to subdue him. During this time, other passengers also helped the flight attendant.
The victimized woman, recounting her terrifying moments, said, "The man first started banging his head against the seat behind him, then after a moment of loss of consciousness, he grabbed my hair by the roots. I was saved with the help of the flight attendant and other passengers."
In a statement from Alaska Airlines, it was noted that the incident was deemed a "violent medical seizure" and that the aggressive passenger was banned from all flights. According to eyewitness accounts, the aggressive passenger had claimed to be an alcoholic who was taking five different medications before the incident.
The flight returning to the gate was canceled due to the flight attendant affected by the incident refusing to continue the flight and the inability to find a replacement staff. An investigation has been launched against the aggressive passenger, who was taken into custody by the police.
