The Royal Palace of Norway announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s health has recently deteriorated and that a lung transplant is expected as a result.
SHE HAS A CHRONIC CONDITION
The 52-year-old Mette-Marit serves as the wife of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. It is known that the princess was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic disease that causes scarring in the lungs and a decrease in oxygen intake, in 2018.
HEALTH CONDITION IS WORSENING
In a statement from the Royal Palace, it was noted that various tests conducted in the autumn indicated a significant deterioration in the crown princess's health. The statement also mentioned that it is still unclear when Mette-Marit will be placed on the organ transplant waiting list.
"WE HAVE APPROACHED THE NECESSARY PROCESS FOR TRANSPLANT"
In the same statement, Prof. Dr. Are Martin Holm from the University Hospital of Oslo's Department of Pulmonary Diseases, whose views were included, stated that they are approaching the necessary process for a lung transplant, saying, "We are continuing the necessary preparations to ensure the transplant can be performed when the time comes."
