Four thieves broke through the wall of a store in California, USA, with a sledgehammer and stole Pokemon cards worth approximately $180,000 (about 7 million 890 thousand TL). While security cameras recorded the events in real-time, the store owner stated that the suspects specifically targeted rare Pokemon cards.
The DOWE Collectibles store, located in North Orange County, California, was the target of an organized burglary early in the morning. Four suspects entered from a neighboring business and reached the collectibles store by breaking through the wall between the two businesses.
THEY STOLE POKEMON CARDS WORTH 180 THOUSAND DOLLARS
The thieves headed straight for the Pokemon cards, despite the presence of numerous electronic items in the store. In a short time, they stole Pokemon cards worth approximately 180 thousand dollars (about 7 million 890 thousand TL) and then fled the area in the vehicle they arrived in. Store owner Duy Pham stated, "They came here for the cards."
SECURITY CAMERAS RECORDED EVERY MOMENT
According to FOX News, the store's security cameras captured the suspects making holes in the wall with sledgehammer-like tools and then breaking the display windows to fill trash bags with the cards.
STATEMENT FROM THE STORE OWNER
Store owner Duy Pham mentioned that he had contacted the police and noted that the suspects specifically targeted the high-value Pokemon cards. In a post on his social media account, Pham expressed that he would follow up on the incident and wanted those responsible to face justice.
POLICE ARE ON THE TRAIL OF THE SUSPECTS
Local police teams have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing the security camera footage. The police are continuing their efforts to capture the four suspects.
Pokemon cards, which have rapidly increased in collectible value in recent years, can fetch thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars for rare examples. Experts point out that this high market value has made collectible stores targets for thieves.
