In the Menderes district of Izmir, Balımnaz and Nergiz Türkkal, siblings who were swept away by floodwaters in their car, lost their lives. It was announced that Devran Y., who survived the incident, provided statements and that the driver T.D. is being sought.
In the Menderes district of İzmir, during an incident where Balımnaz Türkkal (16) and her sister Nergiz Türkkal (21) lost their lives, search efforts continue for the driver T.D., who escaped from the car swept away by floodwaters; the statement of Devran Y. (28), who survived the vehicle, has emerged. In his statement, Devran Y. said, "We had all gone to Menderes for a trip together. On the way back, while crossing the bridge, the car was swept away by the floodwaters."
TWO SIBLINGS LOST THEIR LIVES
On the evening of February 5, the car containing Balımnaz Türkkal, her sister Nergiz Türkkal, Devran Y., and T.D. was reportedly swept away by floodwaters while crossing a bridge over a stream on Kısık Sanayi road in Oğlananası neighborhood of Menderes district. Devran Y. and T.D., who were in the car swept away by the floodwaters, managed to escape on their own. Upon notification, the İzmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command Underwater Search and Rescue Team and AFAD teams were dispatched to the area. While Devran Y. was taken into custody, T.D. fled. In the search and rescue efforts, which also utilized trained dogs, the lifeless bodies of Balımnaz Türkkal and her sister Nergiz Türkkal were found. The Türkkal siblings were buried in Hacılarkırı Cemetery. Meanwhile, it was reported that Balımnaz Türkkal had been making videos on social media.
WANTED FOR 3 DIFFERENT CRIMES
It was also noted that the fleeing driver T.D. has a significant number of criminal records and is wanted for three different crimes. Gendarmerie teams working in the area where the car was found are trying to locate T.D.
RELEASED
In Devran Y.'s statement, it was reported that he said, "We had all gone to Menderes for a trip together. On the way back, while crossing the bridge, the car was swept away by the floodwaters."
After completing the procedures at the gendarmerie station, Yağız was released.
