In Ankara, 9 suspects were detained in an operation against a gang that lured men they met on social media to homes and hotel rooms with the promise of becoming their romantic partners and then robbed them.

Within the scope of the investigation carried out under the coordination of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Ankara Western Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Public Order Branch Directorate tracked down a striking extortion gang. It was determined that gang members lured men they contacted via social media and the internet into their trap, deceiving them with various promises.

ROBBERY AT THE MEETING POINT

The gang's unbelievable method was uncovered through the meticulous work of police teams. It was understood that the female suspects invited victims to hotels or homes with the promise of "being a girlfriend." It was determined that the women, who did not go to the meeting point alone, entered the agreed address with other male gang members and blackmailed the victims. It emerged that the suspects, taking advantage of the fear and panic of those who fell into the trap, forcibly extorted the victims' mobile phones and money.

9 SUSPECTS CAUGHT RED-HANDED

Following the victims' complaints and detailed surveillance, teams from the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate launched a large-scale operation against the gang. In simultaneous raids, 9 suspects involved in blackmail and extortion crimes were caught red-handed and taken into custody. The suspects are expected to be referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
