A person who worked as a manager at one of the supplier companies of a factory in the Arifiye district of Sakarya sent a message to his friend saying, 'I am being held hostage with a bomb.' His friend, who believed the message was real, reported it, which put the relevant authorities on alert. While it was revealed that the message was sent as a joke, an investigation was initiated against the individual on two separate charges.

Fatih B., a senior manager at one of the supplier companies of a factory located in the Arifiye district of Sakarya, sent a message to a friend who called him, saying, "I am being held hostage with a bomb."

FRIEND TOOK THE MESSAGE SERIOUSLY, AND TEAMS WERE PUT ON ALERT

His friend, believing the message was real, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, numerous police, health, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the factory. The teams conducted a large-scale inspection at the factory. As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the report did not reflect reality and that the incident was nothing more than a message sent as a joke.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED ON TWO SEPARATE CHARGES

After it was revealed that the incident was a joke, the police launched an investigation against Fatih B. on charges of 'fabricating a crime' and 'occupying official authorities unnecessarily' due to the unnecessary alert of public institutions.
