As part of the operation initiated by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations of irregularities at İZBETON AŞ, CHP Ankara Provincial Chairman Ümit Erkol and 8 others, who were detained in Ankara on April 9, were arrested and sent to prison by the Magistrate Court to which they were referred.
CHP Ankara Provincial Chairman Ümit Erkol was arrested as part of the investigation into irregularities conducted against İzmir-based İZBETON AŞ. A detention order was also issued for 8 other individuals involved in the same case.
HOW DID THE INVESTIGATION BEGIN?
In the investigation carried out by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that benefits were obtained through the cooperative in urban transformation projects in Gaziemir via İZBETON AŞ, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.
Within the scope of the investigation, charges of "embezzlement," "qualified fraud," "forgery of official documents," and "neglect of duty" were brought.
9 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED
As part of the investigation, on April 9, 9 individuals, including Ümit Erkol, were detained in Ankara. It was learned that one of the 10 individuals being processed was abroad.
The file included the complaint petition of the new management of the cooperative, victim statements, and expert reports.
THEY WERE REFERRED TO THE COURT
After the completion of their procedures, the suspects in custody were referred to the courthouse from the İzmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command. The prosecutor's office sent all suspects to the on-duty Peace Criminal Court with a request for their arrest.
ARREST WARRANT WAS ISSUED
After the interrogations conducted at the court, an arrest warrant was issued for 9 individuals, including Ümit Erkol.
