Following the revelation of Fatih Ürek's will to have a school built in his name after he passed away in recent months, the harsh reality came to light. The artist's sister, Selvi Ürek, stated that contrary to popular belief, there was no substantial fortune, and Fatih Ürek's significant credit and tax debts were paid off using his gold and foreign currency savings. Due to the family members' lack of enthusiasm for the project, the famous artist's dream of a school has been put on hold.

The famous artist Fatih Ürek, who passed away in recent months, made a wish two years ago for a school to be built in his name, but this has been shelved due to family disagreements and alleged debts. His sister Selvi Ürek revealed the harsh truth, stating that there was no massive fortune as assumed.

HE PASSED AWAY AT AGE 59

Fatih Ürek, who suffered a heart attack on October 15, 2025, underwent a long treatment process and died on January 30 at the age of 59, leaving his loved ones in mourning. After the funeral, which brought together the art and social circles, attention turned to the legacy left by the famous artist.

"I CRY WHEN I SEE CHILDREN, LET A SCHOOL BE BUILT IN MY NAME"

Following Fatih Ürek's death, his emotional wish from a television program two years ago resurfaced. Ürek had said at the time: "I want a foundation in my name. Let there be something, let there be charity. What I want most in life is to have a school built in my name. We need our schools. I cry when I see children..."

HIS SISTER EXPLAINED: HE HAD MANY DEBTS, THE RUMORS ARE FALSE

His sister Selvi Ürek put an end to the inheritance debates that emerged after the artist's death. Ürek stated that there was no large fortune as assumed and that exaggerated figures were not denied to protect his reputation, adding that they are struggling to pay off debts:

  • "The Real Assets Are Not as Exaggerated": "A journalist exaggerated this. I stayed quiet, thinking 'if he said 5, let it stay that way' to protect my brother's fame, reputation, and honor. He has two houses, which we haven't sold yet."
  • "We Paid Off His Debts with His Savings": "There were many debts from loans, credit cards, and advances. We tried to pay off his debts with the gold and foreign currency he had saved. His employees' insurance and taxes were also paid, and now only a small debt remains."
  • "There Was a Trust Issue Among Siblings": "Since full trust couldn't be established among the siblings regarding guardianship, we appointed a family friend who is a businesswoman and whom Fatih greatly loved as the executor. We entrusted his valuable belongings to her."

THE SCHOOL DREAM HAS BEEN SHELVED

Speaking about the school project, which was the artist's biggest desire, Selvi Ürek stated, "He wanted to build a school, but my siblings and nieces/nephews are not very keen on this idea. We also don't have as much money as assumed," and explained that the wish will not be fulfilled.
