Interim decision in the Newborn Gang case! Three of the detained defendants have been released.

In the case where 63 defendants, including 13 in custody, are being tried for causing the deaths of emergency pediatric patients in Istanbul by transferring them to the neonatal units of hospitals they had previously agreed upon and for making unjust profits, detained doctor Mehmet Gürül, and nurses Cansu Akyıldırım and Sümeyye Nur Taşçı have been released. The court panel has postponed the hearing to March 24, 2026.

In Istanbul, in a case where 63 defendants, 13 of whom are in custody, are being tried for allegedly transferring emergency patients of newborns to private hospitals they had previously agreed upon, causing their deaths and gaining unjust profits, 3 of the detained defendants were released.

The hearing, held in the courthouse's conference hall by the Bakırköy 22nd High Criminal Court, included 6 detained defendants, among them Dr. Fırat Sarı, who is alleged to be the leader of an organized crime group, as well as some non-detained defendants and complainants, where the lawyers' requests were heard.

The court panel adjourned the hearing for 1.5 hours to announce the interim decision.

Later, the panel announced the interim decision, ordering the release of the 3 detained defendants.

For the released defendants, Dr. Mehmet Gürül, nurses Cansu Akyıldırım, and Sümeyye Nur Taşçı, judicial control measures were applied in the form of "prohibition of leaving the country" and "signing in."

The court panel, which also ruled to lift the judicial control conditions for some non-detained defendants, decided to continue the detention of the other 10 detained defendants and adjourned the hearing until March 24, 2026.
