In Denizli, the trial of M.K, who was previously divorced from his ex-wife four years ago and killed her by cutting her throat in the middle of the street, while seriously injuring her boyfriend by cutting his carotid artery, has begun at the Denizli 2nd High Criminal Court. The hearing was attended by the defendant M.K, the complainant Hüseyin Ç., the family of the murdered Hatice Ünlü, the lawyers of the parties, and witnesses.

BLAMED HIS EX-WIFE HE KILLED

The defendant M.K, who is facing life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder' as requested by the Public Prosecutor's indictment, made a defense that lasted about 1.5 hours. He explained that they divorced due to problems with his ex-wife Hatice Ünlü, but continued to communicate for the sake of the children, and that they often had arguments. The defendant accused his ex-wife of mistreating the children and described in detail how he experienced great anger due to her actions towards their child the day before the murder. However, he briefly mentioned the moment of the murder, claiming that Ünlü attacked him during the incident.

THE WITNESS, HER BOYFRIEND, DESCRIBED THE BRUTALITY

Hüseyin Ç., who was seriously injured in the incident, stated in his testimony that on the day of the murder, the defendant came running towards them with a knife in his hand and directly attacked Hatice Ünlü without any conversation. He noted that he was also attacked, and he moved a bit away from the scene to ask for help, during which the defendant intensified his attack on Ünlü. He said that the defendant M.K dragged Hatice Ünlü on the ground, pulled her head back by her hair, and killed her by cutting her throat. He later mentioned that the defendant chased him, and this chase went around a vehicle at the scene for 3-4 rounds.

The defendant's lawyers requested to hear witnesses regarding the deceased Hatice Ünlü's behavior towards her children and the problems with her ex-husband.

THE MOMENT OF THE MURDER WAS SHOWN, HE COULDN'T WATCH THE VIDEO

The Public Prosecutor requested an additional defense from the defendant regarding the aspects of 'killing with monstrous feelings and premeditation'. Later, the security camera footage recording the murder was watched in the courtroom. Some participants following the hearing could not bear to look at the incident footage. It was observed that the defendant bowed his head while the footage of the incident was being shown.

The court panel postponed the hearing to April 14. Additionally, it rejected the request to hear witnesses, decided to hear the common children of the defendant and the victim under appropriate conditions, and ruled that the defendant's detention should continue.
