According to a statement from the Syrian Ministry of Interior, preliminary investigation results indicated that the husband living in the house first killed his wife and three daughters, and then committed suicide.
The statement included, "The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and to uncover all details."

The Syrian official news agency SANA reported that five people from the same family were found dead in a house in Hama, stating that the causes of death could not be determined in the initial phase and that investigations at the scene were ongoing.
