As part of the investigation conducted against the Bayrampaşa Municipality, the Head of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, Remzi Albayrak, Bekir Önder from the CHP Bayrampaşa district administration, businessman İbrahim Amed, and driver Hakan Köse have been detained.
In the operation carried out within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Bayrampaşa Municipality; in addition to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Head Remzi Albayrak, Bekir Önder from the CHP Bayrampaşa district administration, businessman İbrahim Amed, and driver Hakan Köse were detained.
WHO IS REMZİ ALBAYRAK?
He was born in 1964 in the Sandžak region of the former Yugoslavia and immigrated to Turkey in 1969. He graduated from Şehit Kamil Balkan Primary School, Oğuzhan Secondary School, Kuleli Military High School, and the Department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul University. He served in various units and institutions of the Turkish Armed Forces and retired with the rank of Colonel in 2010. Throughout his military career, he carried out overseas duties at NATO (SFOR) headquarters during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the 7th American Army (LANDCENT) located in Heidelberg, Germany, and at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, USA.
He completed a total of three master's studies in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language at Istanbul University, International Relations, and Educational Management and Supervision at Beykent University. He then continued his doctoral studies in English Language Education at Istanbul University.
Married and a father of four, Albayrak speaks English, Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian at a very good level. He was appointed as the Head of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department as of 24.09.2019.
