Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, journalist Cem Küçük, who was detained on charges of 'publicly disseminating misleading information' and 'blackmail,' was referred to court after his proceedings at the prosecutor's office. Küçük, who was brought before the criminal judgeship of peace, was arrested.

Küçük, who was taken into custody yesterday by teams from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Directorate within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information" and "blackmail," has had his procedures completed. After his health check, Küçük was sent to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.

Küçük, who gave a statement at the prosecutor's office, was referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest on the charge of "publicly disseminating misleading information." Küçük was arrested by the court he was brought before.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REFERRAL DOCUMENT
In the prosecutor's office's referral document, it was stated that in the concrete case, the suspect Küçük made comments about Fatih Keleş, who is detained under a different investigation file, on a live broadcast program at various times, and upon examining the video analysis of the said live broadcast program, he publicly disseminated false information by reporting that "2 million dollars in cash came out of the parquet floor in Fatih Keleş's house."
It was also noted in the document that in another live broadcast program, Küçük was found to have publicly disseminated false information by saying, "Berkay Gezgin received nearly 1 million liras from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; it is in the MASAK reports," and that after some time, Küçük made different posts regarding the said news.
When these evidences are evaluated together, it was stated in the document that the suspect made posts that would create perception, these posts are suitable for disturbing public peace, in this context, the legal elements of the crime of "publicly disseminating misleading information" are fulfilled in the concrete case, there are facts showing the existence of strong criminal suspicion that the suspect committed the crime attributed to him, and there is a reason for arrest; considering the nature and character of the crime attributed to Küçük, the existing state of evidence, and the upper limit of the penalty prescribed in the law for the crime, it was requested that he be arrested.
