Kaya Sabancı, who was assaulted by the hotel owner Vedat Aşçı and his security guards during a dispute in the area where a hotel is located in Bodrum, made a statement about the incident. Sabancı said, "I don't have personal safety, I can't go to my house inside the hotel. I am facing the danger of vision impairment."
In a written statement regarding the assault on June 20th, 72-year-old Kaya Sabancı, who has a house in the famous Mandarin Oriental Hotel and holiday site in Gölköy, a district of Bodrum in Muğla, stated that he was beaten by the owner of the hotel, Vedat Aşçı, and his bodyguards.
Sabancı, who was taken to the hospital and discharged after treatment, stated in his written statement that he could not go to his house in the holiday village because he was concerned about his safety.
"I AM FACING THE DANGER OF VISION IMPAIRMENT"
Indicating that he is facing the danger of vision impairment after the attack, Sabancı used the following statements in his statement, according to Yaşar Anter's news in Sözcü:
"On 20/06/2024 around 21:00, while I was attending the invitation of Hakkasan Restaurant, which is located in Mandarin Oriental Hotel, I was punched in my left eye by Vedat Aşçı, the owner of Mandarin Oriental Hotel, as a result of the attack, wounds, openings, and bleeding were detected in my left eye, eye area, and the upper left side of my head. As a result of further examinations, a base fracture was detected in my left eye.
In the report dated 21/06/2024 prepared by the hospital, it was determined that there was a 3rd degree moderate level effect on vital functions due to the mentioned fracture, and it was recommended that the operation be performed within 1 week at the latest. Otherwise, visual impairments may occur in the left eye."
JUDICIAL CONTROL MEASURE FOR VEDAT AŞÇI
The following statements were included in Sabancı's written statement:
"As a result of the complaint I made at this stage, Vedat Aşçı was brought to Bodrum Public Prosecutor's Office and then sent to Bodrum Duty Criminal Court with a request for judicial control measure.
In this context, Bodrum 2nd Duty Criminal Court decided to apply judicial control measure to Vedat Aşçı due to the presence of strong suspicion of crime with the decision number 2024/200."
"I CANNOT GO TO MY HOUSE INSIDE THE HOTEL"
During this process, I cannot go to my house located in the Mandarin Oriental site due to concerns about my personal and property safety. However, I deeply condemn Vedat Aşçı's recent statements, in which he shows no remorse for the assault and tries to legitimize all the crimes-violence committed against me in this site with false information, misleading the public. I would also like to mention that this attitude will be expressed by my lawyers in front of the court during the trial."
