Citizens living in Hasköy Neighborhood of Malkara district in Tekirdağ have been struggling to communicate due to a long-standing telephone network issue. Even during holidays, the lack of visitors negatively affects social life in the village.

The long-standing network issue in the Hasköy neighborhood of the Malkara district in Tekirdağ has silenced the village even during the holiday. Residents of Hasköy, a neighborhood in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, are practically cut off from communication due to the ongoing telephone network problem. Those who want to talk to their relatives during the holiday have to climb high hills to make phone calls, and the ongoing issue is making life in the village increasingly difficult.

"NOBODY WANTS TO COME BECAUSE THE PHONE DOESN'T WORK"

Citizens, who point out that the young population in the neighborhood is rapidly declining, state that it is unacceptable not to be able to communicate in an era where technology has advanced so much. As young people do not want to stay in the village due to the network problem, they are migrating one by one, and it is reported that guests coming to the village also do not want to return for the same reason.

It is emphasized that the communication difficulties negatively affect not only daily life but also social life. Residents of the neighborhood, who note that the village is not as crowded as it used to be even on special days like holidays, react by saying, "Nobody wants to come because the phone doesn't work."

IT DOESN'T WORK NEXT TO THE CITY

Hasköy Neighborhood Muhtar Erol Çelebi also reacted harshly to the ongoing issue. Expressing that they have been waiting for a solution for years, Çelebi said, "The city center of Malkara is 14 kilometers away from here. Can’t a phone work? No matter which network we get a line from, it never works. Who would come to this village? We pay a fortune for these lines every month, but nobody cares. People have stopped coming to the village. Even our guests do not come because their phones do not work. The citizens are in a difficult situation, and we are in a difficult situation too. This holiday, not even a guest came. Why didn’t they come? Because the phones don’t work," he stated. The villagers expressed that they expect a permanent solution from the authorities, warning that if the communication problem is not resolved, Hasköy may face the risk of becoming completely deserted.
