Two-year-old Sıla baby, who was found to have been sexually abused and subjected to violence, had been fighting for her life at Tekirdağ City Hospital for a month. The heartbreaking news for Turkey came yesterday. The funeral of Sıla baby, who passed away, was taken today by her two aunts.

"MAY MY LORD NOT GIVE THIS TO MY ENEMY"

After the burial of Sıla baby, who plunged the country into mourning in Tekirdağ, her aunt Aslı Tatar made a statement. In her statement, Tatar said, "Our pain is very great. May God not let anyone experience this. Those who have not lived this pain do not know. May my Lord not give this to my enemy. I thank everyone who is with us."

"WE DON'T HAVE SUCH A BLOOD-TAINTED SISTER"

Continuing her statements to journalists who asked questions about her sister Bakiye, Tatar said, "She is not our sister. We do not have a sister. We do not have such a blood-tainted sister. Leave this family, there is no one like that in this lineage. She should get life imprisonment."

"AUNTS CRIED FOR A LONG TIME HOLDING THE COFFIN"

The funeral of Sıla baby, who passed away yesterday in the hospital where she was treated, was taken from the morgue to the New Mosque in the morning. Here, Sıla baby's aunts cried for a long time while holding the coffin. Health teams calmed the relatives of the baby who fainted at the funeral.

Mustafa Soykök, the Provincial Mufti who came to perform the funeral prayer for the baby, stated in his speech before the prayer that the funeral he was leading was very different and that their hearts were broken. Asking for forgiveness from Sıla baby, Soykök said, "I will ask for forgiveness on behalf of all of you. Sıla baby, please forgive us, we could not protect you. I hope the tears we shed for you will lead to goodness and an increase in mercy. May my Lord grant us the awareness of our responsibilities to embrace our human values more, to increase beauty and compassion."

SHE WAS BURIED WITH HER GRANDFATHER'S SURNAME

Sıla Yeniçeri baby was laid to rest with her grandfather's surname in Yenişehir Cemetery in the Süleymanpaşa district after the funeral prayer. It was noteworthy that the board placed at the head of Sıla baby's grave read Sıla Güler.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The mother B.Y., living in the Malkara district, took her daughter S.Y. to Malkara State Hospital on September 8, stating that she was "not waking up." After the examination, the baby was referred to Tekirdağ Dr. İsmail Fehmi Cumalıoğlu City Hospital with a diagnosis of brain hemorrhage and suspicion of sexual abuse, and the situation was reported to the police. The baby underwent surgery on her brain and was placed in intensive care intubated.

As part of the investigation, mother B.Y. (25), her partner S.Ö. (57), their neighbor K.A. (32) and his 13-year-old son K.A. and 14-year-old G.K. were detained, and the suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before. S.Y. baby’s 5-year-old sister A.Y. was taken under state protection.

Tekirdağ Bar Association President Egemen Gürcün stated that it was determined by the forensic medical report that the 2-year-old baby girl, who was brought to the hospital due to assault and was being treated in intensive care, had been sexually abused.

Sıla baby passed away yesterday in the intensive care unit of Tekirdağ Dr. İsmail Fehmi Cumalıoğlu City Hospital, where she had been treated for a month.
