Heavy rainfall that was effective during the night hours in the Cide district of Kastamonu caused flooding. As a result of the Devrekani Stream overflowing, the district center was submerged, houses and workplaces were flooded, and vehicles were stranded on the road. AFAD, DSI, and municipal teams have started evacuation efforts.
Heavy rainfall caused flooding in the Cide district of Kastamonu. Water flooded the ground floors of some houses and workplaces due to the flood. Some vehicles remained submerged on the road.
METEOROLOGY HAD WARNED
Heavy downpours were effective during the night in Kastamonu, which the General Directorate of Meteorology had warned with an "orange" code. The heavy rains, especially affecting coastal districts, caused floods. Following the Doganyurt district, where 157 kilograms of rainfall per square meter fell and turned into a flood, heavy rain was also effective in the Cide district during the night.
DISTRICT CENTER SUBMERGED
Due to the rainfall, the district center was submerged as a result of the Devrekani Stream overflowing. Floodwaters also inundated houses and workplaces in the Cide district center. Vehicles on the roads were also submerged by floodwaters. With the downpour, the Cide-Bartin highway was also closed to traffic.
TEAMS MOBILIZED
Following the warnings from the Meteorology Directorate, efforts were initiated by the State Hydraulic Works (DSI) 23rd Regional Directorate, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), and Cide Municipality teams deployed in the region to drain water that had entered houses and workplaces. Additionally, DSI is carrying out intensive work with machinery to prevent the blockage of bridge piers on the Devrekani Stream, which caused flooding after the heavy downpour.
