A fan of Fenerbahçe, Şeref Bahçe, who lives in the Alemler neighborhood of Karacasu district in Aydın, named his child 'Fener' in the year his beloved team became champions in the 1984-1985 season.
ALL HIS LIFE IS FENERBAHÇE
Fener Bahçe passionately bonded with the yellow-blue team alongside his father. He never missed a match of the Istanbul representative; while he rejoiced in victories, he also felt sorrow in defeats. Now a 40-year-old father of three who still works in agriculture in Alemler neighborhood, Fener Bahçe has made the team he supports the biggest part of his life. He also pays attention to wearing Fenerbahçe products every day.
NOBODY BELIEVES HIS NAME
Fener Bahçe stated that his name was given due to a bet made by his father and his father's cousin in 1985, saying, "That year, with Fenerbahçe becoming champions, my father named me Fener. At first, nobody believes my name is real. Even when I showed my ID, they still doubted my name. My teachers even made fun of it at first. In places I went, they didn't believe it at first, then they would take my picture," he said.
'IF I HAVE ANOTHER CHILD, I MIGHT NAME HIM AZIZ ALI'
Addressing Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç and famous television producer Acun Ilıcalı, who left the board, Fener Bahçe said that his biggest dream is to attend the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby. He expressed his belief that İsmail Kartal would be more successful than Fenerbahçe's coach Jose Mourinho, stating, "Ali Koç is a respected and loved person. We want him to stay. Hopefully, we will become champions this year. My wife and I are dreaming of having another child. If we do, I might name him Aziz Ali. Aziz Yıldırım is also a respected and loved person. He was the president of Fenerbahçe for many years. Ali Şen is the same way. We can name him either Aziz Ali or Ali," he said.
'HOPEFULLY, WE WILL BECOME CHAMPIONS THIS YEAR'
Fener Bahçe stated that he watches all of Fenerbahçe's matches from home and noted the following in his speech:
"Every year, I only watch Fenerbahçe's matches. I don't watch any other team's matches at home. When there is a Fenerbahçe match, I send the kids out of the house. I watch the matches alone. Sometimes my friends come over. Sometimes I even break the TV while watching the match. I want to at least have a job at the club. I am willing to do any job. My only dream is to watch the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray match and meet Ali Koç, Acun Ilıcalı, and the players. I went to a match once, but I couldn't see them, and we couldn't talk to Ali Koç and Acun Ilıcalı. Last year, we narrowly missed the championship and gave the cup to Galatasaray again. Hopefully, this year, with good transfers, the fans will reunite with the players, Ali Koç, and Acun Ilıcalı," he said.
