Trabzonspor has completed the transfer of Rene Mitongo, who played for Standard Liege. The claret-blue club has not yet made an official announcement about the young player, but the 18-year-old striker has joined the claret-blue team's camp in Austria.
Trabzonspor, the giant of the Super Lig aiming for the championship next season, has added Rene Mitongo from Standard Liege to its squad.

The claret-blue club and Standard Liege have not made an official announcement about the Mitongo transfer, but the 18-year-old young footballer has joined Trabzonspor's camp in Austria. The young footballer, who arrived in Austria in the morning, answered questions from the press in front of the hotel.

Mitongo, who expressed his great happiness at being at Trabzonspor, said, "I am very happy to be at Trabzonspor. As you know, it is one of Turkey's big clubs. I am here to improve myself. There are players who played here before, developed themselves, and went to Europe's big clubs. I also want to improve myself, be useful to the team, and then play for Europe's big clubs."

The young striker, who also described his on-field characteristics, stated that he tries to be effective in the penalty area and create space for his teammates, saying, "Honestly, I try to play in both directions. Mitongo, who said he has similar characteristics to Paul Onuachu, expressed his belief that he will gain important things from the experienced striker, saying, "I can say I will learn a lot from Paul Onuachu. I always used to follow Genk's matches. Actually, we are attacking players with a similar profile. We are players who fight and battle for the team. But of course, there will be many things I will learn from him."

Mitongo, who emphasized that the most important factor in his choice of Trabzonspor was the development environment the club offers to young players, said, "Perhaps the biggest reason for coming to Trabzonspor is that young players develop here and then transfer to Europe's big clubs. For example, Felipe came here as both a striker and a winger, developed himself, and transferred to an important club. Now he is a much better player. This is what I want to do too. I want to help the team, improve myself, and also be among Europe's top clubs."
'CAVANDA TOLD ME VERY POSITIVE THINGS'
Mitongo, who stated that he spoke with Luis Cavanda, one of the former players of the claret-blue team, before transferring to Trabzonspor, concluded his words by saying, "I had spoken with Luis Cavanda before coming here. He told me very positive things about Trabzonspor. I only had the chance to meet with him because I knew him. He also told me very nice things about the club."
